What are we working for?

The cold winter weather reminds me of time when my relationship with God has seemed “colder”. I sometimes find myself struggling to keep consistent prayer with Him because of the bustling busyness of school, work, and all the tasks that must get done! Busyness is one of the greatest distractors from this call to prayer. Chasing the next accomplishment or best gift, we can quickly forget that Jesus is the one who truly satisfies our desires. In this time of Advent, I look to the three Magi who focused their efforts on pursuing Christ. They seek to be in His presence and praise Him, and so should we. Their example of seeking after Jesus is one to follow. Life, not just Advent, is a continual journey towards Christ, one that requires us to show up in prayer. We only need to respond to God by showing up consistently and He will illuminate our lives and give us what we long for, closeness with His Son, Jesus Christ.
