Give all you have

Every Wednesday, the Spanish Catholic Center in DC hosts a Food Program. Our program offers assistance to low-income community members. Every week, we have a group of five to seven volunteers from within the community that also help. These volunteers are essential to the program. In Luke 21, we read the story of the widow who gives an offering. She gives all that she has. Jesus commends her for this, saying that she has contributed more than the rich rulers who gave large sums. Through the Food Program, I see Scripture come alive in the generosity of these volunteers. They might not have much, but what they do have they give freely and cheerfully. You might not have a lot either, but remember, it’s not about the amount you give, it’s about the generous heart with which you give.
