The cheerful giver

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Cor. 9:7) One of the beauties of working at Catholic Charities is seeing how much people love to give. Whether it be our supporters who fund our programs or parishioners that give food to our food pantry, I’m always amazed by the generosity of people. Maybe you’re in a season where you feel that God is calling you to give, but you are not sure where or how much. If that is something that God is working in you, be comforted that it doesn’t matter how much you give, but rather, that you give cheerfully and not under compulsion. Consider this question: when you give, do you give with an open hand?
